We are looking for a hands-on Thermodynamics Engineer to strengthen our team of researchers and engineers. The role is a key part of developing a novel plasma technology aimed at the production of reactive nitrogen for multiple applications. You will work with a fast-paced test centre with minimal friction between idea and execution and collaborate with an international network of partners in the field of plasma technology. Your work will directly influence a process that dramatically improves the resource efficiency, sustainability, and security of the global food production.
Main tasks
You will be responsible for developing an plasma reactor able to energise and contain a unique air plasma. The tailored plasma properties and the work process is based on cutting edge academic knowledge, modelling and industrial competence in design-, testing-, verification-, and the industrialisation phases. The challenges are:

  • Fundamentally innovate a novel design and fabrication of the plasma reactor in a unique technology.
  • Concept understanding, investigation, planning, testing, and drawing conclusions.
  • Transfer knowledge from industry and universities to N2 Applied and ensure practical applicability.
  • Analyze test data with statistical tools and advanced simulation tools.

You are a highly dedicated and innovative engineer with relevant experience or just graduated and full of energy from an MSc or PhD degree. You have confidence and interesting knowledge in:

  • Advanced thermodynamic properties of plasma, gasses, and materials.
  • Electric and magnetic fields and their energy transfer to air and plasma
  • Quantum properties and reaction kinetics of air and exited plasma components
  • High temperature air plasma and its physical and electromagnetic properties
