MINERAL FERTILISER SYSTEM

Mineral fertiliser production using plasma technology offers a more sustainable and efficient alternative to conventional methods. It produces nitric acid and liquid ammonium-free calcium nitrate, which are key ingredients for high-quality fertilisers.

The system requires only electricity and air to operate, and its scalability allows it to be adapted to any size of operation. Additionally, it doesn’t need to run 24/7, enabling optimisation of local electricity usage and reducing strain on the grid.

With 80 % reduction in fertiliser production-related emissions, this method significantly lowers its environmental impact. The high-temperature heat generated during the process can also be integrated into heating systems, further improving energy efficiency.

INDUSTRIAL MINERAL FERTILISER FACILITY

N2 Applied’s mineral fertiliser facility can be designed and developed to the needs of any size of industrial operation. This solution enables larger industries to produce nitric acid and nitrate fertilisers locally using air and electricity.

It enables local production of nitric acid or liquid calcium nitrate in close collaboration with energy providers that for instance struggle with curtailment.

Mineral fertiliser production using advanced technology offers a cleaner and more efficient approach. It produces nitric acid and liquid ammonium-free calcium nitrate, essential components for high-quality fertilisers. The process requires only electricity and air to operate, and it is scalable to fit any size of operation, from small to large-scale production.

A key advantage is its ability to reduce fertiliser production-related emissions by 80 %, significantly lowering its environmental footprint. Additionally, the high-temperature heat generated as a residual product can be utilised for other energy needs, further enhancing the system’s overall efficiency.

WHY IS LIQUID BETTER?

N2-Applied’s plasma solutions produce ammonium-free liquid calcium nitrate as an alternative to water-soluble calcium nitrate which contains ammonium.

In hydroponic systems the capacity of buffering the acidifying processes by ammonium is considered to be very low. An ammonium-free fertiliser reduces the risk root-damaging acidification and is therefore a better alternative for fertigation and hydroponic systems.

Liquid fertilisers dominate in the Dutch and Belgian markets, but logistics limit expansion. Local plasma production removes these barriers, unlocking the full potential of hydroponic cultivation.
